With the implementation of Permit Vision at Gas Storage Bergermeer (GSB), TAQA Energy B.V. now controls safety of its frontline operations for all of its 14 sites with one single software system. TAQA and eVision have been partners in safety since 2013, when 13 sites in the Netherlands begun operating with Permit Vision.
With the upgrade to the next Permit Vision and the inclusion of the new GSB site this month, TAQA takes the next step in process safety control. It assists TAQA to safely and securely perform operations on all its sites, while still staying in control and informed from a single location.
A few years in the making, the open-access GSB went into operation earlier this year, storing gas for customers who can distribute it to the Netherlands and surrounding countries.
In the last 40 years, the natural reserve was used for extracting gas, providing the Netherlands with energy, power and heating. Due to this extensive operation the reserve was almost completely depleted. Thanks to TAQA, GSB is now repurposed for storage instead.
But GSB is more than a natural storage facility. The Dutch government recognizes it as a strategic base for establishing a Northwest European gas hub in the Netherlands.
Together with the implementation of Permit Vision at GSB, that includes Isolation and Risk Management, all of TAQA’s Dutch sites have received an upgrade to the latest version of the software.
Europe’s largest open-access gas storage now operates on eVision’s permit to work software
