Highlights of eVision’s 4th annual Client Day: Digital Transformation Towards Operational Excellence

On May 18th, eVision proudly hosted its fourth annual Client Day: the biggest dedicated Control of Work event in the world. Held on the iconic ss Rotterdam, the event was centred around a single concept: progress. Moving forward together, overcoming boundaries, learning from each other, and collaborating towards a better future. We were fortunate to once again have a great line up of speakers from leading companies in different hazardous industries. Over 120 delegates from five continents were involved in interactive sessions, panel discussions, round tables, and keynote speeches.

The event had a packed agenda full of informative sessions about digital transformation towards operational excellence, including change management, standardisation, situational awareness, strategy, and the future of the digital plant. On-stage keynote presentations by industry leaders, panel discussions with industry experts, interactive breakout sessions, and product demos from our partners brought likeminded individuals from all over the industry together.

Highlights of the day

Simon Kennedy, eVision COO, kicked off the event with the first keynote. Focusing on digital transformation towards Operational Excellence, Kennedy detailed the need to collaborate and share in the complex oil and gas market, and the importance of embracing digital ecosystems to achieve maximal maturity.

Steve James, BP Operations Director, took the stage to discuss BP’s progress implementing eVision’s software across all upstream assets. The key themes here were the simplification that standardisation brings, the importance of understanding the culture and people across your assets, and change management.

Ana Berrocal, CEPSA HS Director, on how, through efficient communication and teamwork, CEPSA could roll out eVision software to its last asset in only 20 days.

Andre Kuipers, Astronaut, on training and time on the International Space Station, and how critical safety is when you’re 400 kilometres away from the earth.

Yousef Rahim, Statoil, with a deep-level technical presentation about Statoil’s Technical Integrity Management Programme (TIMP).

Alwin van Aggelen and Neil Currie, eVision, on industry hot topic Process Safety Management: Cumulative Dynamic Barrier Risk Management (CDBRM).

Folkert van Dijk, Partner Deloitte Consulting Energy & Resources, on digital transformation and how the oil & gas IT landscape is changing and moving to a new reality, catching up with other industries.

The panel discussion on Change Management included Steve James, BP Operations Director;
Ana Berrocal, CEPSA HS Director; and Matthijs de Jong, Shell Global Business Readiness Manager UP&ID. The session was moderated by eVision SMEs Zaur Alakbarov and Mick Capes and provided key recommendations to increase your odds of successful change management.

During the second panel discussion, Evert van Holthoon, with 25 years of Asset Management experience at Shell; Dmitrii Solod, Deputy CEO Safety for Irkutsk Oil Company; and David Lowe, with 40 years of experience in turnarounds at Phillips 66, and the eVision SMEs spoke about the complications of correct STO planning through real-world examples.

Neil Currie, eVision co-founder, on the necessity to move forward together; to take the reins
and innovate in the digital landscape, and collaborate towards a safer, more efficient future.
