Profile

Qatar Petroleum (QP) is a state-owned petroleum company, and currently the third largest oil company in the world by oil and gas reserves. The company operates all oil and gas activities in Qatar, including exploration, production, refining, transport, and storage. QP’s Chairman & Managing Director, Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, is also the head of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Qatar. QP’s operations are therefore directly linked with state planning agencies, regulatory authorities, and policymaking bodies. Together, revenues from oil and natural gas amount to 60% of the country’s GDP.

Solution

Qatar Petroleum is running large offshore installations and gas processing facilities off the coast of Qatar. With a very diverse workforce, strict regulations and company rules and ever increasing requirements for meeting high-availability targets, Qatar Petroleum wants to streamline and standardize maintenance operations.

After reviewing all major Permit to Work solution suppliers, eVision’s Integrated Safe System of Work (ISSOW) was selected as the Permit to Work system of choice. The system, Permit Vision, was chosen for its unparalleled usability, unprecedented integration, and technological innovations in the Permit to Work and Control of Work space. This fits Qatar Petroleum’s ambition to use the world’s most advanced solution for their offshore operations. For example, Mobile handheld devices are used for Isolation management, RFID technology is used for tracking correct equipment, Permit to Work and Isolation conflict detection is done on 3D graphical overviews, and integration with SAP Plant maintenance system allows for major productivity gains.
